    IIT Madras, IGCAR and Madras Library Association jointly organised a two-day national conference on "Recent Advances in Information Technology - 2001 (READIT-2001) at Chennai on DIGITAL ASSET MANAGEMENT during 18th  & 19^th September 2001. The two-day Conference had invited talks by prominent experts in the field,  contributed paper presentations from researchers and presentations on Digital Asset Management solutions from top leaders from information Industries. A Pre-Conference Tutorial on Digitize Your Library was arranged at IIT Madras for the benefit of Information professionals on 17^th September 2001. The tutorial was inaugurated by Shri A.M. Raman, IAS, Vice Chairman, Science City, Chennai & Prof. M. Anandakrishnan Vice Chairman Tamilnadu Sate Council of Higher Education inaugurated the Conference. Prof C. R. Muthukrishnan Deputy Director IIT Madras and President Computer Society of India presided over the function
